Bonnie Langford in Monty Python’s Spamalot at the Playhouse Theatre
1980s Doctor Who Star Heading to the West End’s Hit Musical to Portray the Lady of the Lake from May 2013
Those headed to the Playhouse Theatre to catch the ongoing production of Monty Python’s Spamalot from May will be treated to a new Lady of the Lake as Bonnie Langford returns to the production following her previous appearance in the role last year when it ran at the Harold Pinter Theatre. From 6th May 2013 she will swap her current role as Roz Keith in Dolly Parton’s 9 To 5 on tour for the ‘historical’ England that takes its cues from the movie Monty Python And The Holy Grail.
Langford is best known for her work as a Doctor Who companion in the 1980s, which saw her work alongside the 6th and 7th incarnations of the Doctor, Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy. However, her career has also included the 1970s television show Just William and numerous musical theatre productions. In the latter camp her credits have included Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre (and in other locations on the other side of the Atlantic), plus older productions like Sweet Charity at the Victoria Palace Theatre, Peter Pan at the Aldwych Theatre and Cats at the New London theatre.
Monty Python’s Spamalot is the well known stage musical based on the work of Monty Python, which takes many of its cues from Monty Python And The Holy Grail, though other movies like Life Of Brian are also accounted for. In it King Arthur and co. head out in search for the Holy Grail, encountering many colourful characters along the way.
The production had originally appeared at the Palace Theatre in 2006 before leaving and heading on a UK tour. This tour eventually landed back in the West End last year with a brief spell at the Harold Pinter Theatre prior to transferring to its current home of the Playhouse Theatre.
Audiences hoping to pick up theatre tickets and witness Bonnie Langford in the role of the Lady of the Lake will be able to do so from Monday 6th May 2013. Meanwhile, Monty Python’s Spamalot is currently booking to Saturday 2nd November 2013.
