Cast announced for Frankenstein play
The casting for the new production of Frankenstein has been confirmed, with Jonny Lee Miller and Benedict Cumberbatch taking on the lead roles.
Miller and Cumberbatch will both perform the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature in the National Theatre production.
Directed by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle, the show is a new version of the classic Mary Shelley novel, with the story told from the perspective of the monster.
The run will begin at the venue's Olivier stage next February, with Cumberbatch, who was recently seen in the title role of the BBC One series Sherlock Holmes alternating the main characters on different evenings with Miller, who is best known for his part as Sick Boy in Trainspotting, which was also directed by Boyle.
It marks the first time that Boyle has directed a play in 15 years, after moving into the cinema to work on films including Slumdog Millionaire and his latest movie 127 Hours.
