Coronation Street stars turn out for new play
The cast of Coronation Street headed out to the Lowry Theatre to watch the premiere performance of a show based on the soap.
Both past and present performers from the Manchester-based serial were at the theatre to see the first performance of the comedy entitled Corrie!.
Written by current scriptwriter Jonathan Harvey, the show looks at the past 50 years of the soap and features many of the best-loved characters seen during the time, including Elsie Tanner and Deidre Barlow.
Just five actors take to the stage during the two-hour show, which condenses in some of the most famous storylines, including Tracy killing Charlie, with Charles Lawson, who played Jim McDonald, acting as the narrator.
The show is scheduled to run at the arts centre in Salford Quays until August 28th 2010, where musical fans can also currently catch a touring performance of Les Miserables, staring John Owen Jones and Gareth Gates.
