Denise Van Outen in Some Girl I Used To Know at the Arts Theatre
Chicago Actress Returning to the West End at the End of August for One-Woman Show
Denise van Outen is set to return to the West End this August as she brings Some Girl I Used To Know to the Arts Theatre for a brief run until mid-September. The former star of the hit musical Chicago will be bringing her one-woman show to the capital following its appearances in regional theatres around the United Kingdom, which was a huge success with audiences picking up theatre tickets.
In Some Girl I Used to Know, Denise van Outen portrays the character of Stephanie Canworth, a woman with a successful life. Not only does she have an enviable career, she also has a husband by her side and is adored by the media. But all of this comes crashing down when she receives a Facebook ‘poke’ from a former lover. Memories flood back and she begins to look at her life in a different way – is this really the way she wants to live?
The musical show will feature many hit songs from the 1980s and 1990s as we explore Stephanie’s life and times.
Denise van Outen is a well known television personality, actress and former contestant of the series Strictly Come Dancing. For the stage, many will remember her time portraying Roxie Hart in the West End musical Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre, though she has also appeared in Legally Blonde The Musical at the Savoy Theatre and Tell Me On A Sunday at the Gielgud Theatre. For television, she will be recognisable for shows like The Big Breakfast, The Bill, Hotel Babylon and Where The Heart Is, alongside films like Tube Tales and Are You Ready For Love.
The Arts Theatre has been the home of Ghosts Stories for much of this year. The anthology show comes from the pens of Andy Nyman and Jeremy Dyson and has wowed audiences there and at venues around the country, including the Duke of York’s Theatre on a previous West End run, with its spooky tales and impressive scares. It bows out in August.
Some Girl I Used To Know is at the Arts Theatre from Friday 22nd August 2014 to Saturday 13th September 2014. It is directed by Michael Howcroft.
