Dick And Dom in Monty Python’s Spamalot at the Playhouse Theatre
Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood Joining The Cast of the Popular Musical During the Christmas Season
Monty Python’s Spamalot is back in the spotlight today as it is revealed that the CBBC stars Dick and Dom – also known as Richard McCourt and Dominic Wood – will be joining the cast of the popular show for the Christmas run. It means that they will take on the roles of King Arthur and Patsy at the Playhouse Theatre from early December.
The move marks the West End debut of the two stars of the television shows Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow.
Spamalot is the Monty Python musical that takes its cues from the move Monty Python And The Holy Grail. It follows King Arthur and his knights as they set off in search of the famous biblical relic and meet an array of intriguing characters along the way, from the Knights Who Say Ni to a murderous rabbit. We also hear various musical numbers as well, including Knights Of The Round Table, Fisch Schlapping Dance, You Won’t Succeed On Broadway and the well known classic from Monty Python’s Life Of Brian, Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life.
Dick And Dom have appeared in a wealth of children’s television shows over the years, with Dick And Dom In Da Bungalow perhaps their best known work. However, they have also appeared in the likes of Diddy Dick An Dom, Da Dick And Dom Dairies, Dick And Dom’s Funny Business, Dick And Dom’s Hoopla and, more recently, Absolute Genius With Dick And Dom. They also hosted the similarly-titled Splatalot! on CBBC, a medieval-themed game show that has run for two seasons. Outside of their television work they have also been heard on various radio shows.
This Christmas will see an array of shows for audiences of many ages. For adults there is the continuation of a host of well known west end shows, whilst kids will have the choice of returning favourites like The Gruffalo and The Snowman, among others. Meanwhile, Dick and Dom appear in Spamalot from Monday 2nd December 2013 to Saturday 4th January 2014.
Spamalot continues at the Playhouse Theatre and is currently booking to Wednesday 8th February 2014.
