Elf The Musical Breaks Records at London’s Dominion Theatre
The magical Christmas musical starring Ben Forster and Kimberley Walsh in the leading roles of Buddy The Elf and Josie has been spreading its festive cheer all around the West End since it first opened in November.
After smashing several box office records, the show has gone on to break another three times for the fastest selling show since the Dominion Theatre opened. Not only that, but the “sparkly jolly twinkle jingly” production has also beaten the theatre’s record for highest grossing week ever.
On the Gala Opening Night held on the 5th of November in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, the show raised over £82,500 for the charity. Elf’s producers have also agreed to donate £100,000 from the takings on Christmas Eve to Teenage Cancer Trust and towards cancer treatment for Louise Plowright.
The popular musical will end its limited 10-week run on the 2nd of January 2016. Based on everyone’s favourite Christmas film, it features a book by Tony Award winners Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin with songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar and Chad Beguelin.
