Elton John finds pop music 'uninspiring'
Sir Elton John has stated that he is not a fan of much modern music, calling recent pop songs "uninspiring".
The performer told the Radio Times that he is not a fan of the current music in the charts, but does have some respect for the artists who write their own tracks.
He explained that he likes the songs produced by acts including Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga as they work on their own compositions.
The performer, who has collaborated on many of his most famous records with lyricist Bernie Taupin, said: "It's important they write their own songs, so they're not at the mercy of anyone."
"Songwriters today are pretty awful, which is why everything sounds the same."
Sir Elton has recently released a collaborative album with musician Leon Russell and fans can see him perform a one-off show in the UK on October 28th 2010 at London's Roundhouse venue.
