Beverley Knight Appearing in The Bodyguard for Longer as Book Of Mormon Adds New Dates at the Prince of Wales Theatre

There’s an extension of a different kind revealed this week alongside new dates for The Book of Mormon at the Prince of Wales Theatre. Beverley Knight is going to remain in the production of The Bodyguard for an extra three months whilst the comic musical from Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez has a new booking period up to May 2014.

The Bodyguard is the high profile musical based on the hit movie of the same name. Whitney Houston appeared in the big screen version but the role of Rachel Marron is portrayed by Beverley Knight in the West End version. She is the superstar in need of a bodyguard, Frank Farmer, who is assigned to protect her from a stalker and gradually begins to fall in love with her. Kevin Costner took on the role in the movie version and the part is played by Tristan Gemmill at the Adelphi Theatre.

Beverley Knight took on the part from September 2013 and was due to step down in earlier in the New Year. However it has now been revealed she will stay until at least May. The singer has released seven studio albums during her career and is well known in the music industry.
Though Knight will step down in May, The Bodyguard is booking at the Adelphi Theatre until August 2014.

The Book Of Mormon, meanwhile, is the comic musical from South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, plus Avenue Q creator Robert Lopez. It tells the story of Mormon missionaries heading out to Uganda to try and spread the message of the Church of the Latter Day Saints, but face problems as the locals are more concerned with problems like war, famine and disease. It currently stars Gavin Creel and Jared Gertner in lead roles, whilst directing duties fall on Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker.

The production opened at the Prince of Wales Theatre in March this year and, thanks to its latest booking extension, audiences can now pick up theatre tickets for dates up to Saturday 3rd May 2014.
