Kinky Boots Musical

Once again it is time for some high profile musicals in London’s West End to announce the latest changes to their booking periods as their popularity propels them forwards.

On this occasion it is the turn of Wicked and Kinky Boots to make these announcements, with both shows extended their runs at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and Adelphi Theatres respectively. It means that the former has added dates to April 2017 whilst the latter has extended to September this year.

Wicked has become a mainstay of the musical theatre scene both in the United States and here in the West End, having staged many performances in front of packed houses for a decade. It opened at its London home of the Apollo Victoria Theatre back in 2006 and continues to capture imaginations.

It is set in the Land of Oz long before Dorothy arrives (in the events of The Wizard Of Oz) and focuses on the events that lead the world to war in later years – namely the rivalry between Glinda the Good Witch and Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West. What begins as a matter on the playground eventually blooms to encompass all of Oz.

And due to its new booking extension the show is now running at the Apollo Victoria Theatre for performances up to Saturday 29th April 2017.

Over on the Strand, meanwhile, Kinky Boots has been entertaining the crowds there since it opened in the summer of last year. Another popular hit, it is a musical that chronicles the efforts of Charlie Price and drag queen Lola as they attempt to rejuvenate the former’s inherited shoe factory with some interesting ideas. Along the way we also hear music from the well known pop star Cyndi Lauper.

The show is based on the film of the same name and has earned numerous Tony Awards since it was first staged in the United States back in 2012.

And it will continue to receive considerable attention as it continues in the West End, where it is now booking for performances up to Saturday 24th September 2016.
