Gary Milner Joins Wife in Mamma Mia! at the Prince of Wales Theatre

Wednesday, 2nd May 2012

Milner Joins the Cast Alongside the likes of Charlotte Wakefield and More from 11th June 2012, Prior to the Show’s Transfer in September.

The Prince of Wales Theatre has already been in the news this week in relation to the upcoming production of “Let It Be”, which is holding auditions in Liverpool and London to find the actors to portray The Beatles onstage. Today, however, it is the turn of the venue’s current show, “Mamma Mia!”, to hit the headlines as a new casting announcement emerges for the period prior to its transfer to the Novello Theatre.

It has been announced that Gary Milner will join the cast, which means he will be starring alongside his wife Sally Ann Triplett as he steps into the role of Sam Carmichael (she plays Donna Sheridan). The rest of the cast includes another newcomer in the form of Charlotte Wakefield (as Sophie Sheridan) as well as Liam Doyle, James Gaddas, Andreas Gyllander, Tasha Taylor Johnson, Abiola Ogunbiyi, Steven Oliver and Neil Roberts.

Milner takes on the role from 11th June 2012 and will remain until 1st September 2012 when the show ends its run at the Prince of Wales Theatre, where it has been running since 2004 (it originally opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in 1999). As of writing, it looks as though this cast will then make the transition with the production to its new home.

The actor has appeared in stage and screen roles over the years. His London theatre credits include “Pericles” at the Open Air Theatre in Regent’s Park in 2011 and “Evita” at the Adelphi Theatre in 2006, in addition to “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2005. Meanwhile, audiences may also recognise him from appearances in television shows like “The Bill”, “Doctor Who”, “Spooks” and “Murphy’s Law”, as well as the recent movie “John Carter”.

“Mamma Mia!” is currently booking at the Prince of Wales Theatre until Saturday 1st September 2012. It then opens at the Novello Theatre on Thursday 6th September 2012, with an initial booking period taking it to Saturday 13th April 2013.
