Former Matilda The Musical Performer Joining the Long Running Show in the West End

Jersey Boys lands in the spotlight once again as a big casting change is announced, seeing Gary Watson replace Matt Nalton in the role of Nick Massi and a wealth of other performers joining the cast at the Piccadilly Theatre. Matthew Cutts, Stuart Dawes, Nicky Griffiths, Joseph Peters, Chris Stoddart and Helen Ternent will also join those already appearing at the West End venue from March.

Jersey Boys is the famous musical that chronicles the rise and fall of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, the popular group from New Jersey consisting of Frankie Valli, Nick Massi, Tommy DeVito and Bob Gaudio, who had a host of big hits in the 1960s. From humble origins Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons went through many record companies and found great success with tracks like December 1963 (Oh What A Night), My Eyes Adored You, Sherry, Walk Like A Man and more. Songs like this appear as part of the score of the production.

The show opened at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2008 before its transfer to its current home at the Piccadilly Theatre in 2014. It is one of the most popular shows in the capital and has also enjoyed great success on the other side of the Atlantic. It was also adapted into a film directed by Clint Eastwood.

Gary Watson has appeared in various other popular west end shows during his career and might also be familiar to those beyond the capital thanks to appearances in touring productions. His credits include A Chorus Line at the London Palladium, Finding Neverland at the Leicester Curve, Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre, Les Misérables at the Queen’s Theatre, Cats on a UK tour and Saturday Night Fever at the Apollo Theatre, among others. He has also made appearances on television and in international productions.

In addition to Watson as Nick Massi, Edd Post will continue to portray Bob Gaudio with Jon Boyden as Tommy DeVito and Michael Watson (and Sandy Moffat) as Frankie Valli.

Gary Watson stars in Jersey Boys at the Piccadilly Theatre from Tuesday 10th March 2015. The show is currently booking to Sunday 25th October 2015.
