Griff Rhys Jones set for Oliver! return
People booking tickets for Oliver! in the West End this Christmas will be able to see Griff Rhys Jones reprise his role as Fagin.
The Welsh-born actor and comedian is set to return to the production at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from December 6th, starring until the show closes on January 8th.
Jones is due to replace Russ Abbot, whose stint as Fagin will end on December 4th, while Kerry Ellis will continue as Nancy and Bill Sikes will be played by Steven Hartley until the end of the run.
Several major stars have taken on the role of Fagin since Cameron Mackintosh's production of Oliver! opened in London in January 2009.
Rowan Atkinson was the first actor to portray the shady pickpocket boss, before fellow comic Omid Djalili stepped in. Jones first inhabited the role between December 2009 and July this year.
Directed by Rupert Goold, the musical has been described as a "dazzling spectacle" by the Telegraph.
