Idina Menzel to Perform at the Apollo Theatre
The West End and Broadway Star Will Perform in a Series of concerts at the London theatre in October 2012
It has been revealed that October will be bringing Idinia Menzel, best known for appearing in “Wicked” on Broadway and in the West End, to the stage of the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue. The American performer will be entertaining audiences with special concerts that will feature many renowned songs from the famous shows that have made her name.
In Idina Menzel’s live show she will be joined by an orchestra of 25 musicians and not only will they perform songs she has previously brought to the stage as part of her musical theatre background, they will also be adding pop songs and brand new material to the mix. The result is likely to be something that audiences in the capital will enjoy thoroughly, particularly if they are fans of shows that Menzel has previously delivered here.
As mentioned, Menzel is best known for “Wicked” on Broadway and at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, but her career has also included various other shows on both sides of the Atlantic, with “Chess” at the Royal Albert Hall perhaps her highest profile in London. Her credits include “Rent” on Broadway, which also saw her perform in the 2005 movie version as well, in addition to “The Wild Party”, “See What I Wanna See”, “Hair” and “The Vagina Monologues”, among others. So she is a high profile artist and thanks to her Tony Award for Best Leading Actress in a Musical (“Wicked”) audiences can be certain of a stand-out show.
And those outside of the London theatre scene will also get a look-in as Menzel will be taking on the show on a brief excursion across the United Kingdom. In Edinburgh she will play the Usher Hall on Tuesday 16th October 2012 and in Manchester she will play the Palace Theatre on Wednesday 17th October 2012.
Idina Menzel is at the Apollo Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue from Monday 8th October 2012 to Sunday 14th October 2012.
