Jessica Robinson to take Smokey Joe's Cafe role

Wednesday, 11th Aug 2010

Jessica Robinson, who gained national fame taking part in Over the Rainbow, is set to play a role in Smokey Joe's Cafe.

The young actress who reached the quarter finals of the show is to take over from her fellow would-be Dorothy Stephanie Fearon when she has three days out from the production to have an operation on her wrist.

Opening back in July, the show, which features 39 pop classics written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller including Jailhouse Rock and Stand By Me, has already extended its run to September 5th 2010.

It is the first time that the musical has been staged in the capital since 1995.

Jessica will take to the stage on August 20th to 22nd, prior to starting at the Arts Education School this autumn with the backing of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Fans of the BBC talent search who are eager to see the show's winner Danielle Hope in action can book tickets now for performances from February 7th 2011.
