The Broadway Star Replacing Ryan Molloy as Frankie Valli in the Transferring West End Hit

Earlier in the year it was announced that Ryan Molloy would be stepping down from the role of Frankie Valli when the musical Jersey Boys finishes its run at the Prince Edward Theatre. It means that producers have had to find a new lead cast members for the production as it heads to the Piccadilly Theatre.

That new cast member has now been revealed and it is John Lloyd Young, the star of the production on Broadway and also the man cast as Frankie Valli in the Hollywood movie from director Clint Eastwood.

Jersey Boys is a jukebox musical that chronicles the rise of the hit band The Four Seasons, utilising songs from their back catalogue for the musical numbers. It follows their origins in New Jersey and progresses through to their signing at Vee Jay Labels and their time at the top of the charts. Musial numbers along the way include Walk Like A Man, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Rag Doll, My Eyes Adored You, Working My Way Back To You, Who Loves You and Sherry, among others.

John Lloyd Young, as mentioned, already has experience in the role of Frankie Valli and this is a major coup for the producers of the West End version. He has also appeared in other musicals on the other side of the Atlantic, with credits like The Drawer Boy, Spring Awakening and The Chosen, among others. He has also appeared in shows in LA, such as Les Miserables, and along the way has been the recipient of numerous awards, whilst appearing in television shows like Law & Order, Glee and Vegas.

After many years at the Prince Edward Theatre, where the show opened in 2008, Jersey Boys is set to transfer to the Piccadilly Theatre in March 2014, where it will take booking to October. The Prince Edward Theatre is then ready to accept the upcoming production of Miss Saigon, whilst the Piccadilly Theatre is the home of Dirty Dancing prior to the arrival of Jersey Boys.

John Lloyd Young plays Frankie Valli from Saturday 15th March 2014 to Sunday 27th April 2014.
