Casting Update for the Popular Musical Directed by Sam Mendes in London’s West End

A casting update has emerged for the production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, with a big name attached to the musical as it continues in the West End.

Josefina Gabrielle is set to take on the role of Mrs Teavee in the show and she is joined by Barry James as Grandpa, Kirsty Malpass as Mrs Bucket, Richard Dempsey as Mr Bucket and the previously revealed Alex Jenning as Willy Wonka.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory is based on Roald Dahl’s book of the same name and follows Willy Wonka, the owner of a famous chocolate factory, as he hides golden tickets inside his chocolate bars. These tickets will grant lucky winners access to the factory where they get to witness the mysterious goings-on inside. Amongst them is Charlie, who visits the factory with his Grandpa and sees Oompa Loompas and an array of bizarre contraptions.

Musical numbers include The Amazing Tale Of Mr Willy Wonka, The Double Bubble Duchess, Simply Second Nature and Pure Imagination, among others.

Josefina Garbrielle could recently be seen in the Menier Chocolate Factory production of Merrily We Roll Along, a show that was granted numerous Laurence Olivier Award-nominations this week alongside Charlie And The Chocolate Factory. The acclaimed performer has previously been seen in The King And I on a National Tour, Sweet Charity at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and The Witches Of Eastwick at the Prince of Wales Theatre, in addition to plays like The 39 Steps at the Criterion Theatre.

In addition to the names mentioned above, the show also stars Billy Boyle, Clive Carter, Jasna Ivir, Paul J Medford, Roni Page and Myra Sands alongside Dan Cooke, Divine Cresswell, Connor Dowling, Gemma Fuller, Robert Jones, Matthew Rowland, Rebecca Seale, Gregory Sims, Paulo Teixeira and Laura Tyrer.

Audiences can still pick up theatre tickets for Charlie And The Chocolate Factory at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, where it is currently booking to Saturday 30th May 2015. Meanwhile, the new cast members take over from Monday 19th May 2014.
