Kevin Spacey to star in Richard III
Kevin Spacey is to take to the London stage in the role of William Shakespeare's Richard III.
Spacey will perform the part at the Old Vic Theatre, of which he is artistic director, from June 29th 2011.
Directed by Sam Mendes, the story of the brother of Edward IV who ruthlessly conspires to become king of England will be performed until September 11th.
The pair previously worked together on the 1999 film American Beauty, for which Spacey received the best actor Oscar, with Mendes picking up the best director prize and the movie itself scooping best film.
Performed as the final part of the transatlantic Bridge Project, the play will transfer to the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Harvey Theater in New York on January 10th 2012, where it is scheduled to run until March 4th.
The play is to be preceded by Cause Celebre, starring former Shameless actress Anne Marie Duffy.
