Legally Blonde tickets to be in demand during World Cup
According to Nica Burns, president of the Society of London Theatre, many productions are likely to lose out while the football competition is underway in South Africa.
"It's 64 matches in 31 days, which is an awful lot of men and quite a lot of women glued to their TV sets," she commented.
However, she believes Legally Blonde may buck this trend, as it tends to attract more women than men, many of whom may be keen to avoid the wall-to-wall football over the next few weeks.
Sheridan Smith, whose TV credits include The Royal Family and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, is starring in the current version of the musical.
Duncan James, who rose to prominence in boy band Blue and recently featured in Dancing on Ice, is also one the main performers.
The World Cup got underway today, although England do not start their quest for the trophy until tomorrow, when they face off against the USA.
