Award Winning Actress Joining Caroline Quentin, Patricia Hodge and Co. in the West End Transfer in March

Earlier in February it was announced that Noël Coward’s famous play Relative Values would be transferring from the Theatre Royal Bath to the Harold Pinter Theatre, retaining some of its lead stars in Patricia Hodge, Caroline Quentin, Rory Bremner and Ben Manfield, plus director Trevor Nunn. Now another big name has been added to the cast list, ensuring that the West End run will have more reasons for audiences to pick up theatre tickets.

Leigh Zimmerman, the Olivier Award-winning actress of A Chorus Line at the London Palladium, will take on the role of Miranda Frayle – the Hollywood actress set to marry an English aristocrat - in the production. It means that, in addition to Hodge, Quentin, Bremner and Manfield, she will star alongside the likes of Rebecca Birch, Amanda Boxer, Sam Hoare, Timothy Kightey and Steven Pacey.

The plot centres on a Hollywood actress becoming engaged to a young earl, a member of the English aristocracy, and the confusion caused when the English family realises that their maid, Moxie, is the sister of the potential bride. To avoid upset they attempt to pass Moxie off as one of their own.

Leigh Zimmerman has appeared in various west end shows over the years, from the mentioned A Chorus Line to the West End’s Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre. Her other credits include The Producers, for which she was nominated for an Olivier Award, at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane (and on Broadway) and Contact at the Queen’s Theatre, among others. She has also made appearances in numerous screen roles, including movies like Proof, United 93 and Are You Ready For Love, plus the series Feel The Force and Numb3rs.

Relative Values opened at the Theatre Royal Bath last year and was clearly successful enough for this West End transfer. It is not unusual for Coward plays to make this journey, with the likes of a recent production of Blithe Spirit also doing this. By coincidence, another production of Blithe Spirit starring Angela Lansbury will be appearing in the West End in 2014.

Relative Values is at the Harold Pinter Theatre from Monday 14th April 2014 (with previews beginning on Wednesday 19th March 2014).
