Little Britain star joins Les Miserables production
Fans of Little Britain will be snapping up tickets to see a new production of Les Miserables in London, after Matt Lucas was announced as its star.
The musical is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and the milestone is being celebrated with a special one-off performance at London's O2 Arena on October 3rd 2010.
Lucas will play Thenardier in the production, while Nick Jonas of Jonas Brothers fame will take on the role of Marius.
Les Miserables, which has been staged at the Queen's Theatre in London in recent years, is based on the 1862 novel by Victor Hugo.
It tells the story of ex-con Jean Valjean and his nemesis - the police inspector Javert.
The musical version of the story gave rise to classic songs including On My Own, One Day More and I Dreamed a Dream.
Lucas is perhaps best known for his sketch show Little Britain, although he rose to fame as George Dawes in comedy panel game Shooting Stars, alongside Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer.
