Manchester United ticket holders to see new goalkeeper
Fans with Manchester United tickets may have to get a new name on the back of their goalkeeper replica shirts soon.
This is because Edwin Van der Sar has announced he is to retire from football in the summer, with questions arising over who Sir Alex Ferguson will get in to replace him.
The 40-year-old keeper announced yesterday (January 27th 2011) that he would be leaving the beautiful game for good at the end of the season, with speculation mounting that either Manuel Neuer or Maarten Stekelenburg are likely to be seen by people with sports tickets as his replacement.
David de Gea is also thought to be under consideration by the Red Devils, but he is not as hotly tipped to be heading to Old Trafford in time for the 2011/2012 season to kick off.
Before he does hang up his boots for good, Van der Sar still has an important few games ahead of him, as his club are looking to hold on to their place at the top of the Premier League table.
