Matilda The Musical Turns 4
Sunday the 25th of October 2015 will mark the fourth birthday of Matilda The Musical. To celebrate the special occasion the show has announced that they will be extending performances to the 18th of December 2016 and have also welcomed some new talented members to the cast.
Inspired by Roald Dahl’s much loved children’s book, the musical first premiered at the Royal Shakespeare Company’s The Courtyard Theatre in November 2010. After a successful run it moved from its Stratford-upon-Avon venue to its current home at the Cambridge Theatre in London’s West End.
Evie Hone and Lizzie Wells have joined Anna-Louise Knight and Lara McDonnell in the title role, with Michael Begley starring as Mr Wormwood, Miria Parvin as Miss Honey and Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood. Craige Els will continue to play the role we all love to hate of the hilariously wicked Miss Trunchbull.
Matilda has been performed in front of over 3 million theatregoers worldwide in London and New York as well as Australia. After opening to rave reviews at the Sydney Lyric Theatre earlier this year it has now been announced that it will play for a limited season at the Princess Theatre in Melbourne in March 2016.

Matilda has scooped up a number of awards including 4 Tony Awards for its Broadway production and 7 Olivier Awards in 2012, earning it a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for Most Laurence Olivier award wins. In November 2012 the cast were also invited to perform for The Queen at the 100th Royal Variety Performance aired on ITV.
