Million Dollar Quartet coming to London
Million Dollar Quartet is heading to London after enjoying huge success in America.
The musical is based on the events of December 4th 1956, when four of Sun Records' most famous artists performed together at the storefront studio in Memphis.
Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis were up and coming names when they held a jam session together, which was recorded by Sam Phillips, the man who had discovered them.
Taking inspiration from the recordings, the musical features many of the singers' most famous songs, including Blue Suede Shoes, I Walk the Line and Great Balls of Fire.
Due to open in the Noel Coward Theatre on February 28th 2011, it follows previews which start from 8th February.
The show, which is yet to have its cast finalised, is scheduled to run at the West End venue until October 1st 2011.
In the current Broadway production in the US, Eddie Clendening performs as Elvis, with Lance Guest taking on the role of Johnny Cash.
