Mogwai and Beirut Join End of the Road Festival
Laura Marling Also Among Those Headed to the Dorset Event in September
The End of the Road Festival in Dorset announces some of the names set to take to the stage when the event rolls around later in the year, with Mogwai and Beirut amongst those on the list. Since 2006 the event has been welcoming an array of acts and now those with festival tickets will get a chance to witness the acclaimed Scottish rock band live onstage in what is promised to be a relatively intimate affair come September.
The fact that the End of the Road Festival is already getting word out of its line-up means that audiences have a long time to wait before they can witness the bands live. After all the festival does not take place until early September, making it one of the later summer festivals of the year. It means that they have beaten some of the bigger events of the year, such as the Reading and Leeds Festival, which is yet to announce its line-up and has indicated that audiences will have to wait until Monday 21st March 2011.
The hugely popular Scottish rock band Mogwai have been performing since 1995 and in that time have released seven studio albums and an abundance of EPs . Band members include Stuart Braithwaite, John Cummings, Barry Burns, Dominic Aitchison, Brendan O’Hare and Martin Bulloch, with albums like “Mogwai Young Team”, “Rock Action” and “Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will”. They are known for the instrumental pieces that dominate their work and the musical landscapes that they create, which have made them highly influential and enormously popular with alternative rock fans around the country.
Beirut, meanwhile, are an American rock band responsible for albums such as “The Flying Club Cup” and “Gulag Orkestar”.
Other bands set to take to the stage at the End of the Road Festival include Laura Marling, Wild Beasts, The Black Angels, Midlake, Caitlin Rose, Daniel Martin Moore, Doug Paisley, The Fall, Gruff Rhys, Joan as Policewoman, Lanterns on the Lake, Mountain Man, The Secret Sisters, Willy Mason and Young Man. Other names can be found on the official website.
