Nadine Coyle in Lord Of The Dance at the Dominion Theatre
Former Member of Girls Aloud Joining The Cast in the West End from March 2015
This month sees the return of the high profile dance production Michael Flatley as Lord of the Dance: Dangerous Games opens at the Dominion Theatre. For audiences this means that they will get to see the latest version of a worldwide smash hit that made Flatley into a household name and continues to draw in crowds wherever it goes.
Now a new name has been announced for the production, albeit a name that was previously attached to the show when it appeared at the London Palladium last year. Nadine Coyle, best known for her work with Girls Aloud, will play Erin onstage for a limited number of performances this month.
In this version of Lord Of The Dance, those with theatre tickets are treated to a story bathed in Irish folklore as we follow the character of Little Spirit as he journeys through different eras with the help of the Lord of the Dance (played by Flatley from 13th to 24th March). The titular character is defending against Planet Ireland and Don Dorcha, so Little Spirit must help him in return.
The story was first staged in 1996 and clearly continues to resonate with audiences as it pulls in the crowds almost twenty years later.
Nadine Coyle steps back up to the role of Erin having entertained audiences since Girls Aloud emerged over a decade ago. She has had numerous hits with them and also released a solo album in 2010. Meanwhile, she has also made an array of television and film appearances both as herself and in acting roles such as 2007’s St Trinian’s. Prior to being announced as part of the cast of Dangerous Games last year she also appeared on an ITV programme about Michael Flatley entitled Michael Flatley: A Night To Remember.
The Dominion Theatre has been the home of We Will Rock You for much of the last decade though following the Queen musical’s closure it has been the home to the likes of White Christmas. This Christmas, following Lord Of The Dance’s appearance it will also be the home of Elf The Musical.
Lord Of The Dance: Dangerous Games runs at the venue from Friday 13th March 2015 to Saturday 5th September 2015. Nadine Coyle appears in the show from Friday 13th March 2015 to Saturday 21st March 2015.
