Frozen - Theatre Royal Haymarket

About a month ago we first got word on the new West End production of Bryony Lavery’s play Frozen, which is set to run at the Theatre Royal Hamarket from February. Its initial announcement revealed Suranne Jones in a lead role alongside Jason Watkins and now, with October upon us, we get word on another name set to join the cast.

Nina Sosanya, a regular on various prestigious London stages, will play the role of Agnetha when she steps into the Jonathan Munby-directed production in February. It means that the cast is a solid mix of stage and screen performers who have split their time between various formats.

Sosanya has also appeared in both, with an array of television credits going alongside stage work. In the latter category she has appeared in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Novello Theatre, As You Like It for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Privacy at the Donmar Warehouse and Antony & Cleopatra at the National Theatre, amongst others.

But whilst the presence of Jones also means a familiar face for Frozen, Sosanya only adds to this as she will be recognisable from television shows like Last Tango In Halifax, Marcella, Treasure Island and W1A.

For Frozen, she plays psychiatrist Agnetha. She is one of three characters whose outlooks are explored following the disappearance of young girl Rhona. She is on the other side of the Atlantic when she follows the events, whilst the other two perspectives come from those closer to the incident – Rhona’s mother Nancy and murderer Ralph.

The show explores how a normal evening when Rhona travelled to visit her Grandma turned into a sinister and horrifying journey into a nightmare.

Before Frozen opens at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, audiences there will be able to enjoy the likes of Venus in Fur, which runs from Friday 6th October 2017 and continues until December. Then The Rat Pack return with both Christmas With The Rat Pack and The Rat Pack Live From Las Vegas.

Frozen follows them all when it runs at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from Friday 9th February 2018.
