Kimberely Walsh

Later this month the previews begin for the anticipated Christmas production Elf The Musical, which runs at the Dominion Theatre until the New Year. Amongst the performers set to appear in the production is former Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh and as a result it seems like the perfect time to take a look back at her career.

Walsh plays the character of Jovie in the seasonal musical, with other actors set to appear like Ben Forster as Buddy and Jessica Martin as Emily.

Born in Bradford in 1981, Kimberley Walsh didn’t have to wait for adult life before she had her first glimpse of the spotlight as she appeared on the stage and screen at an early age. She studied at Stage 84, a theatre school, as the years went by and eventually set her sights on a career in music.

She achieved this by auditioning for the talent show Popstars the rivals back in 2002 and famously winning as part of Girls Aloud, who would go on to have great success in the UK charts. With Girls Aloud she released songs like Sound Of The Underground, I’ll Stand By You and The Promise, amongst others. Later she also enjoyed a solo career with songs such as One Day I’ll Fly Away and the album Centre Stage.

But she has also moved into the acting world and whilst this has seen her combine her talents by appearing in Elf The Musical, she also has previous experience in the West End as she also starred in Shrek The Musical at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Her move into the acting world has also included roles in the likes of Horrid Henry: The Movie, Britannia High and All Stars, amongst others.

So she has enjoyed a varied career, entertained many fans and continues to bring in the fans. So it is likely she will be a big draw for Elf The Musical when it emerges at the Dominion Theatre later this month. The show runs at the West End venue from Thursday 5th November 2015 (with previews from Saturday 24th October 2015) until Saturday 2nd January 2016.
