Rehearsals begin on the Wizard of Oz
The cast, crew and creatives behind the new production of the Wizard of Oz have begun rehearsing the musical.
Starring Over the Rainbow winner Danielle Hope in the lead role of the ruby slipper-wearing Dorothy, broadwayworld.com stated that a host of other well-known faces turned up on the first day.
Choreographer Arlene Phillips attended the first day of practice of the cast, with Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber also on hand to watch how the show was coming along.
Featuring all the well-loved songs from the 1939 film starring Judy Garland, there are also several new numbers which have been composed by Lloyd Webber.
As well as starring the talent show winner, Michael Crawford is to appear in the role of the Wizard, with Hannah Waddingham taking on the part of the Wicked Witch of the West.
The show opens for previews on February 7th 2011 at the London Palladium on Argyll Street in London's West End.
