The Classic Musical Returning to the West End for a Brief Run in September 2015

We’ve seen the return of many classic musicals in recent years, with Cats and Miss Saigon both making appearances after previously leaving fans wanting more. Now another production can be added to the list as The Rocky Horror Show makes a brief appearance this September with original creator Richard O’Brien as the narrator. As a show with a huge fanbase, expect this to attract a lot of attention and plenty of costumed theatregoers in a few months time.

The Rocky Horror Show’s most famous run in the West End was its original appearance in the 1970s, though it has since been revived regularly and has embarked on many UK tours. Another such tour is set to run after its appearance in the West End this September.

The plot focuses on the characters of Brad and Janet who find themselves in a large house inhabited by an array of iconic characters, including the popular Dr Frank N Furter, who has just created his new project.

Of course the show is better known for its songs, which includes the hit The Time Warp, and these have added to its lasting appeal.

And as this production will feature Richard O’Brien as the narrator it is bound to attract even more attention. The performer wrote The Rocky Horror Show and then co-wrote its film adaptation The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He is also well known for his presenting duties on the popular show The Crystal Maze in the 1990s. Beyond those roles, his other theatre credits include Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium and various regional shows and pantomimes.

The full cast for the West End run is yet to be confirmed, though London theatre Guide reports that S-Club 7’s Paul Cattermole will appear in the touring version alongside Ben Freeman, Kristian Lavercombe and Diana Vickers.

The Rocky Horror Show makes its anticipated appearance at the Playhouse Theatre from Friday 11th September 2015 to Saturday 19th September 2015 before audiences across the UK get a look-in on its latest national tour.
