Sally Dexter to replace Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act
Sally Dexter has been announced as the actress to take over from Whoopi Goldberg in Sister Act.
The veteran star of the stage and screen will don the nun's habit after Goldberg finishes her run in the musical on August 31st, following her acclaimed three-week stint in the musical.
Dexter will perform alongside current cast members Patina Miller, who has won rave reviews in the lead role of Deloris Van Cartier and former boy-band member Simon Webbe, who is playing the part of Curtis Shank.
She will stay in the part until the show closes at the London Palladium on October 30th 2010, although a Broadway version has been planned to begin in 2011.
Sister Act will be followed at the theatre by the new production of the Wizard of Oz, which will see TV talent contest winner Danielle Hope slip into her ruby slippers from February 7th in the lead role of Dorothy.
