Sanjeev Bhaskar in Dinner With Saddam at the Menier Chocolate Factory
Goodness Gracious Me Star Appearing in the Upcoming Show in Southwark
The Menier Chocolate Factory Once again demonstrates how it is the most talked-about venue outside of the West End as it announces a high profile name in Sanjeev Bhaskar for the upcoming production Dinner With Saddam. The Goodness Gracious Me will take on the role of the former Iraqi dictator in the production under the direction of the renowned Lindsay Posner.
Bhaskar isn’t the only performer announced for the show, which has been penned by novelist and screenwriter Anthony Horowitz, as his name has been revealed alongside Rebecca Grant, Ilan Goodman and Nathan Amzi.
Dinner With Saddam is a ‘what if’ play of the highest order. It does exactly what it says on the tin and explores what would happen if Saddam Hussein had appeared on your doorstep for dinner. Not only will the topic of discussion be important, but also the choice of menu...
It is the new play by Horowitz, who is perhaps best known for his television writing work. But with Lindsay Posner directing, it is clear that his voice will find an exciting home on the stage as one of the country’s best known directors interprets it for audiences.
And many, no doubt, will be talking about Sanjeev Bhaskar as Saddam Hussein. The British comic performer has had a presence on our television screens for well over a decade, appearing in wealth of acclaimed and legendary programmes. He is perhaps best known for the like of Goodness Gracious Me and The Kumars At No. 42, the latter of which was resurrected on Sky1 as The Kumars last year, though he has also appeared in the likes of Doctor Who, Top Gear and more. Perhaps more significantly, at least in relation to his latest appearance in a London theatre, he has previously taken to the stage in Spamalot at the Palace Theatre and Art at the Whitehall Theatre (now the Trafalgar Studios).
Dinner With Saddam with Sanjeev Bhaskar is set to run at the Menier Chocolate Factory from Tuesday 22nd September 2015 (previews from Thursday 10th September 2015) to Saturday 14th November 2015.
