Shrek is named in time for new West End musical next summer
Anyone looking forward to buying theatre tickets for new West End musical Shrek next year may be pleased to know that the actor who will play the ogre has been announced.
Nigel Lindsay is to tread the boards of the Theatre Royal Drury Lane as the grumpy green swamp-dweller, while Nigel Harman is to play Lord Farquaad.
Harman may be recognisable to fans of EastEnders, as he played Dennis Rickman in the long-running soap.
The two actors will join the previously-announced Amanda Holden and Richard Blackwood - Princess Fiona and Donkey respectively - when the show opens in summer 2011.
In a statement, producers Bill Damaschke and Caro Newling said they were pleased to have found their "new London Shrek family", the London Theatre Guide reported.
Shrek will replace Oliver! at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, so anyone who has not yet seen the show based on Charles Dickens' classic book may wish to book tickets soon.
