Kinky Boots - Adelphi Theatre

For the latest big casting announcement emerging from the West End we turn our attentions to the Adelphi Theatre, whose stage has been transformed into a Northampton factory as the story of Kinky Boots delights London theatregoers. The show has been a popular one at the venue since 2015 and its success means that it continues to run strong.

With that in mind it gets some fresh faces in July as a host of new actors take on the popular roles. Amongst them is Simon-Anthony Rhoden, who has been the understudy of the character of Lola and will now become the full time actor to play the part. It will make this the West End debut of the young actor, whose previous credits have been in smaller venues in the capital and beyond.

Kinky Boots is based on the 2005 British film, which focuses on the character of Charlie Price (David Hunter, remaining in the part) as he inherits his Northampton shoe factory from his father. He is struggling to keep the family business running, however, and he fears that unless he turns things around he will be failing the company. Enter Lola, a drag queen with big ideas, and this unlikely pairing turns into a successful business partnership.

Along the way we hear songs penned by the well known singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper, with examples like Land Of Lola, I Come To The Rescue, Soul Of A Man and Everybody Say Yeah, amongst others.

Simon-Anthony Rhoden has appeared on the stage and screen during his career and prior to working as the understudy of Lola in Kinky Boots he has appeared in Marianne at the New Wimbledon Theatre, If I Should at the Soho Theatre and Married To The Game at Theatre503, to name but a few credits.

He joins the production full-time on 10th July 2017 and will join the cast at the same time as Verity Rushworth, Rosie Glossop, Momar Diagne, Lauren Drew, Tom Scanlon, Jed Berry, Dale Evans, Jordan Fox, Ben Jennings, Keith Higham, Georgia Louise, Emma Odell and Antony Reed.

Kinky Boots continues at the Adelphi Theatre and is currently booking for performances to Saturday 6th January 2018.
