Siobhan Dillon and Mark Evans Join Ghost the Musical
The Actors set to Join the Popular Musical from January 2012
“Ghost The Musical” has proven to be a popular show since it opened its doors at the Piccadilly Theatre, no doubt attracting many fans of the famous 90s movie and new admirers along the way, and today an update has emerged regarding the casting. From January 2012 Siobhan Dillon and Mark Evans will be taking on the lead roles in the production, taking over from the current stars Caisse Levy and Richard Fleeshman and following in the footsteps of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.
Siobhan Dillon is perhaps best known for her appearances on the television talent search “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?” which aimed to find the star of the West End version of “The Sound of Music”. Since then she has appeared in other west end shows and though the most recent was “Legally Blonde the Musical” at the Savoy Theatre, prior to that she appeared in “Grease”, which originally ran at the home of “Ghost” the Piccadilly Theatre. She has also appeared in various other television shows over the years, including an appearance on “Any Dream Will Do”.
“Ghost the Musical” is, of course, the stage version of the 90s movie that centres on the characters of Sam and Molly, a young couple who are victims of a mugging one night whilst walking home. The attack leaves Sam dead and Molly grieving, but Sam has returned as a ghost, trapped between our world and the next. Realising that Molly may still be in danger from his murderer he enlists the help of a phoney psychic to keep her safe from harm.
The production opened at the Piccadilly Theatre earlier this year following a run at the Manchester Opera House. It also features Sharon D Clarke as psychic Oda Mae Brown and Andrew Langtree in another supporting role. It replaced “Grease”, which had previously been running at the West End venue, and joins a host of other musicals to be based on movies (like “Shrek The Musical” and “Billy Elliot the Musical”.
“Ghost the Musical” continues at the Piccadilly Theatre and is currently booking to Saturday 13th October 2012.
