Sir Elton John confirmed for BBC Electric Proms
Sir Elton John is the first name to be unveiled for this year's BBC Electric Proms line-up.
The veteran pop star is due to perform at the Roundhouse in north London on October 28th, when he will appear alongside rapper Plan B and rising star Rumer.
American songwriter Leon Russell is also expected to play at the event, which will be the first of this year's Electric Proms series.
Sir Elton said he was looking forward to appearing on stage with the 68-year-old pianist and singer.
"I'm delighted to be kicking off this year's Radio 2 Electric Proms, particularly as I'll be joined on stage by Leon, who is one of my musical heroes," he commented.
The star added that the concert will feature "some very special guests and memorable moments".
Tickets for the event will be made available later this month. Fans of new music may be particularly excited about seeing Rumer, a 31-year-old solo artist whose soulful ballads have been endorsed by Burt Bacharach.
