Spamalot and Wicked Extend as One Man, Two Guvnors Closes
Three Shows Makes Announcements Regarding Their Booking Periods in the Capital
Three announcements have been made regarding well known west end shows as Spamalot reveals new dates until February 2014, Wicked extends further into the year with dates until November 2014 and One Man, Two Guvnors reveals its end-date at the Theatre Royal Haymarket.
First of all Spamalot is running at the Playhouse Theatre and along with the extensions came the announcements that Warwick Davies will be playing a part in the show from Monday 23rd September 2013 to Saturday 19th October 2013. Davies is well known for his work with the likes of Life’s Too Short and Return Of The Jedi, in addition to a recent episode of Doctor Who.
The show is a re-telling of Monty Python And The Holy Grail, which sees King Arthur and his Knights set out in search of the famous religious artefact and encounter a range of colourful characters along the way.
The popular show is now booking at the Playhouse Theatre in London’s West End until Saturday 8th February 2014.
Meanwhile, Wicked is a show that regularly gains a booking extension, which means that it is no surprise that the prequel to The Wizard Of Oz has added further new dates, taking its booking period to November 2014. The show will also feature some new addition to the cast with mid-November bringing the likes of Willemijn Verkaik as Elphaba, Savannah Stevenson as Glinda and Sam Kelly as The Wizard, among others.
The story plots the early rivalry between Elphaba and Glinda, who grow up to become Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch respectively.
The long-running musical is now booking at the West End’s Apollo Victoria Theatre until Saturday 1st November 2014.
Finally, another popular show is set to close its and it takes the surprising form of One Man, Two Guvnors, Richard Bean’s hit update of Carlo Goldini’s The Servant Of Two Masters.
Originally featuring James Corden in the lead role of food-looking Frances Henshall, it currently features Rufus Hound in the role, though Owain Arthur is set to return from Monday 23rd September 2013.
The production, running at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, will close its doors on Saturday 1st March 2014.
