Casting Update for Anthony Horowitz Play under the Direction of Lindsay Posner

Earlier this year it was revealed that Sanjeev Bhaskar would be appearing at the Menier Chocolate Factory for a production called Dinner with Saddam. The show comes from the pen of Anthony Horowitz and is set to be directed by the acclaimed Lindsay Posner, so with such talent bringing the production to life it is clear that is likely to attract a lot of attention.

Now, however, a major new announcement has been made, ensuring even more attention, with Steven Berkoff revealed as the actor set to take on the part of Saddam Hussein. He is announced alongside Shobu Kapoor and they will appear alongside Bhaskar, Ilan Goodman, Rebecca Grant and Nathan Amzi.

Dinner With Saddam does everything you might expect for a show with that title and asks us what we would do if the former dictator of Iraq turned up on our doorstep for dinner. What would the conversation be? What would you cook?

Steven Berkoff is one of the biggest names in the film and theatre world, having found success as an actor, director and playwright with a range of credits to his name. He will be well known for those picking up theatre tickets for his film appearances in the likes of Beverley Hills Cop, Octopussy and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, though he has also appeared in A Clockwork Orange, War And Remembrance and more. His stage work has included penning Sink The Belgrano and directing a wealth of other productions.

Meanwhile, Shobu Kapoor has appeared in films like Bend It Like Beckham and television shows such as Doctors, EastEnders, Doctor Who and Citizen Khan.

The Menier Chocolate Factory in Southwark is outside of the West End but it regularly presents shows that garner as much attention as their West End counterparts. Many productions later transfer to the venue and as a result it stands up alongside locations like the Almeida Theatre and the Chichester Festival Theatre as a place to look out for future Theatreland hits.

Dinner For Saddam runs there from Tuesday 22nd September 2015 (previews from Thursday 10th September 2015).
