The Hurly Burly Show at Duchess Theatre

Miss Polly Rae and the Gang Return to the West End Following Previous Appearance in 2011

Following its appearance at the Garrick Theatre in 2011, “The Hurly Burly Show” is set to make a welcome return to the West End this summer, this time with a run at the Duchess Theatre. Once again it will feature Miss Polly Rae as its lead, plus additional performers, as well as a director in William Baker and will invite audiences to witness a unique burlesque performance. It will open in July 2012.

“The Hurly Burly Show”, when it appeared at the Garrick Theatre last year, featured performers such as Betsie Bon Bon, Felicity Splits, Ooh La Lou, Miss Rosey Cheeks, Liverty Sweet, Lady Katy and Miss Laurie Hagen, with the latter familiar for television programmes like “The Royal”. It features singing, comedy and burlesque dancing but it does so with a modern-day spin on the classic themes. The result is a burlesque show that stands out from the crowd (and it must have done so in 2011 for it to be making a return in 2012).

Miss Polly Rae has been a rising star since she decided to become a dancer back in 2006, turning her back on a previous career, and she first brought “The Hurly Burly Show” to the capital back in 2009 when London theatre audiences saw it at the Leicester Square Theatre.

Director William Baker’s previous credit, in addition to “The Hurly Burly Show” at the Garrick Theatre, is “Rent” in the West End, though he is better known as a fashion designer; a career that has seen him work alongside the likes of Britney Spears, Tori Amos and Kylie Minogue, among others.

“The Hurly Burly Show” will be the first production to land at the Duchess Theatre since “Written on the Heart” closed last month. The show, which was a Royal Shakespeare Company production, had originally planned to stay in the West End until the end of July but had its end-date revised.

As such, “The Hurly Burly Show” can open at the Duchess on Monday 2nd July 2012, with a planned end-date of Saturday 22nd September 2012.
