The Much Anticipated Goodnight Mister Tom Opens at the Duke of York Theatre
Set during the build-up to the Second World War, the well-known wartime tale based on the classic novel by Michelle Magorian will officially open at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre today. The production will play for a strictly limited season before embarking on a UK tour.
The 2012/13 production opened to high critical acclaim and also received an Olivier Award for Best Entertainment and Family. With the much-loved story attracting mass appeal with fans of all ages, it comes as no surprise that the return of David Wood’s latest stage adaption has been well received by theatregoers and critics alike.
Cast in the leading role of Mister Oakley is David Troughton, who is probably best recognised as the voice of character Tony Archer in BBC Radio 4’s popular British rural drama ‘The Archers’. He will be joined on stage by an ensemble of talented actors including the likes of Clark Devlin, Elisa de Grey and Guy Lewis, whilst six young performers will share the roles of William and Zach.
