The Two Worlds of Charlie F at the Theatre Royal Haymarket
Two Special Performances from Injured Troops Staged by the Bravo 22 Company
It has been revealed that the Theatre Royal Haymarket will be the home of two special performances in January, which will both be staged by sick personnel from the armed forced. The two performances will be of “The Two Worlds of Charlie F”, which has been put together by the Bravo 22 Company, and they will be staged in January 2012. The play has been written by Owen Sheers, who has penned previous productions in the capital, and features actors from Bravo 22.
Among the actors headed to the stage are Daniel Shaw, a Rifleman who served in Afghanistan and lost both of his legs, Major Stewart Hill and Lance Corporal Cassidy Little. Stephen Rayne directs, with the project combining the efforts of the Royal British Legion, Masterclass, the Royal Navy Recovery Pathway and the Army Recovery Capability.
The company has teamed up with Sir Trevor Nunn, the current Artistic Director of the Theatre Royal Haymarket and who presented Ralph Fiennes in “The Tempest” late in 2011, to bring “The Two World of Charlie F” to the stage.
According to the Daily Mail the aim of the project is to provide injured troops with confidence as they recover from their injuries, whilst also presenting the possibility of a theatrical career once they have left the armed forces.
Meanwhile, as previously mentioned last month, the Theatre Royal Haymarket is soon to be the new home of “One Man, Two Guvnors” as that production transfers from the Adelphi Theatre with a brand new cast. James Corden is set to take the current production to the other side of the Atlantic at the end of its run in February and then Owain Arthur will take over the role of Frances Henshell as it continue to attract audiences in the West End.
“One Man, Two Guvnors” is set to enjoy a run at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from Friday 2nd March 2012 to Saturday 15th September 2012. Before that, however, there will be two performances of “The Two Worlds of Charlie F” – a matinee and evening show, on Sunday 22nd January.
