Two New Booking Extensions in the West End

Rock Of Ages and Thriller Live Add New Dates at their Respective Homes in the Capital

Two well known west end shows are demonstrating their popularity by announcing booking extensions to their respective runs. One is “Rock of Ages”, that has extended to February 2013 and the other is a fellow-jukebox musical “Thriller Live”, which adds new dates to March 2013. Both shows have their fans, with one a popular new musical that opened last year (boosted by the new movie version on the horizon) and the other a celebration of the life of the late Michael Jackson.

“Rock of Ages” opened its doors at the Shaftesbury Theatre in August last year and since then it has been a popular choice for those looking for theatre tickets. This celebration of glam rock features an array of 80s hits as part of its musical numbers and features with it a plot focusing on two youngsters who come together thanks to their love of the genre. One is a small-town girl Sherrie, whilst the other is an LA rocker called Drew.

The production, which is only going to get more popular as the movie version with Tom Cruise lands on cinema screens, is now booking at the Shaftesbury Theatre until Sunday 17th February 2013.

Meanwhile, “Thriller Live” opened back in January 2009 and this was before Michael Jackson died that summer. As a result it originally looked at the career of the King of Pop up to the moment and evolved into its current form upon his death, becoming a celebration of his life’s work in the process. Audience members that head to the Lyric Theatre get to witness various performances of his hit songs, from those as part of the Jackson Five like “ABC” to huge numbers like “Billie Jean” and “Thriller”.

The last set of West End booking extensions emerged in May, by which time shows like “The Lion King”, “Jersey Boys”, “The 39 Steps” and “Billy Elliot the Musical” had all extended their time at their respective homes.

The Gary Lloyd-directed production, which was created by Adrian Grant, continues to find fans in the capital and as a result it is now booking at the Lyric Theatre to Sunday 3rd March 2013, meaning that it will celebrate its fourth birthday in January.
