West End Gets Ready To Rock-A-Long With A Special Performance Of American Idiot
Not only is this the last chance for London theatregoers to see American Idiot before the show closes in the West End, but also the only chance they’ll get to watch the show quite literally go out with a bang as an extra special rock infused performance is announced.
The one-off ‘Rock-A-Long’ performance will take place on the 12th of November at the Arts Theatre in London’s Leicester square and will encourage audience members to join in and rock out to all their favourite songs. The American Idiot musical will then continue its run until the curtain officially closes on the 22nd of November, with the national tour kicking off in March 2016.
The critically acclaimed Tony Award-winning show features a selection of punk pop band Green Day’s most popular hit songs including ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams,’ ‘21 Guns’ and ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’. The musical’s title track ‘American Idiot’ is from the band’s 2004 Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum album and the musical itself has also been awarded a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album in 2010.
The current production, which tells the story of 3 young friends on a journey of self-discovery after the tragic events of 9-11, stars a talented group of performers including X-Factor’s Amelia Lily, Steve Rushton, Aaron Sidwell and Luke Baker. Currently joining them on the London stage are Natasha Barnes, Alexis Gerred, Llandyll Gove, Raquel Jones, Natasha Karp, Robyn Mellor, Lucas Rush and Ross William Wild. The full casting line-up for the musical’s national tour is yet to be announced.
Dubbed as “An affecting snapshot of our times” by The Times, the show has been a massive success amongst Green Day fans and musical theatre lovers alike. Click here to book your seat at the London Arts Theatre before it’s too late!
