West End musical Wicked is granted extension
Popular West End musical Wicked will be staying in the West End until at least autumn next year, it has been announced.
Producers for the show - which tells the story of the witches of Oz before they grew up and met Dorothy - have said theatre tickets will now be available until October 29th 2011.
This could be ideal for people who have not yet had the chance to see it at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.
Wicked has been experiencing a good year in 2010, having taken £1 million more in bookings this summer than was the case in 2009.
It also welcomed its three millionth theatregoer on August 4th this year, after first opening its doors in September 2006.
Wicked - which currently stars Lee Mead, Louise Dearman and Rachel Tucker - won a Laurence Olivier Award for Most Popular Show in 2009, marking the first time the public had been invited to cast its votes for the category.
In July 2010, Deadline reported that film production company Universal could be set to turn Wicked into a movie.
