Whoopi Goldberg 'looking forward to Sister Act challenge'
Treading the boards for people with London theatre tickets next month, Whoopi Goldberg has said that she is excited by the challenge.
The Oscar winner is set to take on the role of Mother Superior in Sister Act, which was made famous in the films by Maggie Smith and is currently played on stage by Shelia Hancock.
Whoopi told the Daily Mail she is looking forward to playing a restrained character.
"It's the Mother Superior we're dealing with here, but at the same time it will be a challenge because in my mind I'll hear lines coming at me and want to respond in a specific way," she said.
Although she originally played Doloris in the films, the star explained that she is too old for the role now and that actress Patina Miller plays the part "beautifully".
Her first performance in the role is due to take place on August 10th and she will stay on in the production until the end of the month.
