Two Blockbuster musicals Announce Booking Extensions at their Respective West End Homes

The latest west end shows to add new dates to their respective booking periods are “Wicked”, with new dates to April 2013, and “Shrek The Musical”, with new dates to December 2012. The productions run at the Apollo Victoria Theatre and the London Palladium respectively, whilst both sharing Broadway roots.

“Wicked” is the well known musical that takes audiences to the Land of Oz prior to the events depicted in another of the West End’s shows, “The Wizard Of Oz”. As such we focus on two girls who meet at a young age, one of whom is beautiful, outgoing and popular and the other who is cursed with emerald-green skin and is generally misunderstood. So what begins as a playground friendship, then rivalry, soon becomes a battle that takes its toll on all of Oz as one becomes Glinda the Good Witch and the other Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West.

The production has remained in the capital since September 2006 and celebrated its fifth year in September 2011, proving to be one of the most popular and most talked-about shows in town.

Those wishing to pick up theatre tickets will be happy to know that it is now booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre to Saturday 27th April 2013.

Meanwhile, “Shrek the Musical” is a more recent addition to the West End, having opened at the London Palladium in June 2011. It has also proven to be popular, with a hit movie series ensuring its place in the spotlight.

The plot focuses on the title-character Shrek, a green swamp-dwelling ogre who must embark on an adventure to save his home. Accompanied by a wise-cracking Donkey he heads out into the fairy-tale inhabited world and winds up saving a beautiful princess from a tower, unaware that a handsome prince was required for the task so that she could be free of a terrible curse.

New additions to the cast include Dean Chisnal and Neil McDermott at the end of the month. The production is then set to continue at the London Palladium until (at least) Sunday 16th December 2012.
