Located in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre is one of two venues owned by the Royal Shakespeare Company that allows audiences to witness the works of England’s most famous playwright in the place of his birth.
Since 2010 it has been the home of numerous high profile Shakespearean shows and more, with a range of renowned names taking to its stage to deliver the verse from the Bard’s pen. Audiences have been able to witness this in a newly renovated venue since this time and with a high seating capacity it also allows for a grand atmosphere.
The Royal Shakespeare Company is arguably one of the best known theatre companies that Britain has to offer and throughout the years they stage a range of William Shakespeare’s well known work as well as staging other significant productions. As well as Stratford-upon-Avon they also put on productions in the West End (such as the popular Matilda The Musical) and the Barbican Theatre. For over a half a decade they have been the top choice for audiences seeking the work of the Bard and this tradition is likely to continue for some time to come.
In Stratford-upon-Avon they own two venues, the larger Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the smaller Swan Theatre, both of which were reopened to great success in 2010. During their refurbishment many shows were seen at the Courtyard theatre.
If one looks at the credits of some of the country’s most acclaimed performers they will find plenty of examples of their work for the Royal Shakespeare Company, which means the Royal Shakespeare Theatre remains a top place to see well known names on the stage and this will remain the case for some time to come.
