Come From Away - on Broadway

Age Restriction: Might not be suitable for younger children

You’ll have heard countless tales of those affected by 9/11 in America, but what happened away from New York on that fateful day? Telling the story of how a small town in Canada welcomed in thousands of people left stranded, Come From Away is a spirit-lifting show where the music plays all night. So, if you’re looking for a musical with non-stop energy that’s also based on real life events, you’ll want to see Come From Away.

On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all. As 7,000 stranded passengers from 38 airplanes are diverted to Gander, a small Newfoundland community, watch communities come together and individuals from all walks of life find themselves. Even though cultures clash and nerves run high, the uneasiness quickly turns into trust, with gratitude forming enduring friendships. Based on interviews conducted by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, you’ll wish you could be an islander once you’ve seen the show!

Come From Away isn’t the only productions based on a true story. INK follows Rupert Murdoch and Larry Lamb in the founding years of British newspaper The Sun, while musicals such as Ain’t Too Proud and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical detail the extraordinary careers of some of the finest musicians. However, if you’re looking for a heartwarming production that’s guaranteed to lift your spirits and re-evaulate the world, you’ll want to see Come From Away.
