If you’re looking to experience a part of British history while in New York, why not see Maria Stuarda. Following the lives of Mary, Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth I, political and personal rivalries come to the fore in a tense opera.

Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots, has been forced to abdicate her throne and flee her kingdom after the rebellion of her Scottish nobles. At 18, she returned to her native land, following the sudden death of her husband Francis II, having reigned as Queen of France for little more than a year. This opera follows Mary, Queen of Scots and Queen Elizabeth I as they reunite under tense circumstances. Embodying different perceptions of royalty, what will happen in their feud?
