The Great Society - on Broadway

Age Restriction: Recommended for Adults and Teens

After the Tony Award-winning play All The Way, Robert Schenkkan returns to Broadway with his newest play: The Great Society. Named after Lyndon B. Johnson’s aspirations for a greater America, follow the President during a dramatisation of his epic years in the Whitehouse at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. If you’re looking for a play that’s both historically and politically accurate, you’ll want to become a part of The Great Society.

In an era that saw deaths of influential figures, rising tensions in the country and across the world and the growing civil rights movement, one man was at the heart of it all – Lyndon B. Johnson. Capturing the passionate and aggressive attempts to build a just society for all, The Great Society follows Johnson’s epic triumph in a landslide election to his decision of not running for re-election just three years later.

The Great Society is one of many productions to receive its Broadway premiere this season. If you’re heading to the Great White Way, why not watch Marisa Tomei in The Rose Tattoo or see Betrayal starring Tom Hiddleston. But, if you’re looking for a production that captures the essence of 20th century America, you’ll want to book tickets for The Great Society.
