First seen at St Petersburg’s Mariinsky Theatre, Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades returns to the Metropolitan Opera House. Dating back to 1890, The Queen Of Spades is Tchaikovsky’s three-act opera that was taken from Alexander Pushkin’s critically-acclaimed novel.
In a story of greed based around card games and the relentless pursuit by one man to obtain someone’s powers in the game. Army officer Hermann requires the skills of the Countess who is particularly good at cards. But, who will strike it lucky and who will leave empty handed?
